A concrete topping may be applied to a concrete structural slab before or after the base slab has hardened. Integral toppings usually are 1â„2 in thick; independent toppings about 1 in.
It is well to remember in specifying or installing a concrete floor that the difference between good and poor concrete lies in selection and grading of aggregates, proportioning of the mix, and the care with which the vital operations of placing, finishing, and curing are carried out.
