The workability test methods for concrete presented in this document cover a broad range of workability, from extremely dry roller-compacted concrete to highly flowable mixtures. The test methods range from simple tests that can be performed in less than a minute to more complex tests that require expensive equipment and knowledgeable operators. Although some of the tests are appropriate for only a narrow range of concrete mixtures, such tests can still provide highly useful information. The following subsections describe the workability test methods for concrete and summarize the key advantages and disadvantages of each test method.
